Utilities Asset Availability Leader - Wauna Mill
Role:
• The Utilities Asset Availability Leader is responsible for leading the asset availability and reliability efforts in the Utilities Department for the Wauna Mill.
• The successful candidate will work closely with the Area Leader, Optimizer, Gatekeeper, Operators and the Maintenance Department to drive out repeat failures and implementing all aspects of the Georgia-Pacific Reliability Mental Model.
• The individual will also work with other operational support people, and engineering to drive improved asset availability.
Expectations/Responsibilities:
• Utilize MBM principles in all interactions with all Wauna Mill team members, GP team members, vendors, visitors and others. • Monitor key reliability measures and establish additional measures as needed.
• Lead/participate in the RCA process to identify and drive out long-term chronic problems and failures.
• Maintain and analyze the Asset Availability Database and generate monthly reports.
• Track RCA recommendations and ensure they are completed.
• Actively participate (present/communicate) in monthly RCA review meetings.
• Work with Maintenance to develop and improve PM inspection routes and systems.
• Become a DMSI (Brand name of hand held device used to collect Operator Basic Care (OBC) and equipment lubrication data) expert and work closely with Optimizer and Operators to build skills and capabilities of operators and implement OBC programs. Operator Basic Care (OBC) are rounds made by operators to inspect equipment and processes, take appropriate actions to address findings and then document the findings in a data base.
• Actively participate in planning and executing outages for the Utilities Department.
• Assist with Decision Making Framework (DMF) development.DMF is a document developed to justify capital or expense spending including a description of the proposal, background information, financials and alternatives.
• Work with engineering to assure new equipment installations meet reliability standards
• Provide daily support to the operating area as needed
• Project work as assigned by Area Leader.
Basic Qualification:
• BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering with minimum of 2 years experience in operations, maintenance, engineering or other technical support experience.
• Or, High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 5 years experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, or other technical support experience
Knowledge and Skills:
• Clear understanding of reliability based maintenance and operations.
• Prefer knowledge of formal Root Cause Analysis methodology and tools.
• Experience successfully working in a team environment with a cooperative work style
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven computer skills with MS Work, Excel, Power Point, Project and CMMS experience.
