General Job Objective

Manitowoc Cranes, a global leader in lifting solutions, is seeking an innovative Test Engineer. Key responsibilities of this position include: carry out moderately complex projects from start to finish. In addition, plan, coordinate and control the test engineering effort directly related to the assigned area of responsibility or special assignment. Along with assisting Manager in coordinating as required. Reporting directly to the Production Verification Manager, this position is based in Shady Grove, PA.

Essential Job Functions

- Conduct tests on Materials validation, Failure/Forensic analysis and Environmental Testing.

- Support Test Specifications Design to assure that Manitowoc products are built to the highest standards.

- Setup and installation of data acquisition equipment and components.

- Stress analysis and test data analysis

- Test off-highway/construction equipment and components in actual or simulated field or lab conditions.

- Maintain materials spec or material test spec and test record system

- Work with test technicians to fabricate test fixtures and special test set-ups.

- Communicate with engineering to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data and data interpretation.

- Mentor, direct, and train test technicians

Job Requirements/Working Conditions

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.

- 7+ years Test and/or design experience with off road, construction or agricultural equipment will be considered in lieu of a degree.

- Experience in materials or metallurgy or welding engineering in off highway/agricultural preferred

- Experience in materials stress / environmental testing and analysis, or materials specification highly desirable

- Experience with Pro/E and other CAD package and FEA software

- Ability to prepare analysis, test, performance, schedule, and cost information as required in assigned area of responsibility

- Establish and implement test methods to ensure early identification of potential problems with new and existing products and processes

- Experience evaluating product designs and product performance requirements to determine testing requirements

- Knowledge of Six Sigma principles and Design for Six Sigma is a plus

- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

- Excellent interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team environment

- Working conditions in engineering lab environment include exposure to heat, cold, wet, dry, etc. for a brief period of time.

- Data acquisition (DATAQ, SOMAT, etc.) skills are a plus.

- Must have the ability to move/lift 30 lbs
