Job Title: Sr Mechanical Engineer

Responsible for product engineering for a specific product or group of products for high volume production, with emphasis on single use medical devices.
Position Responsibilities
Technical competencies:
- Demonstrated expertise in 3-D modeling and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. (GD&T).
- Demonstrated expertise in evaluating and analyzing designs, able to determine design capabilities and margins.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of technical risk management tools, and works within a team to analyze and mitigate technical risks
- Can develop complex designs to release to production
- Evaluates and applies design trade-offs and constraints for design optimization. Skilled in the use of advanced analysis tools and methods.
- Applies advanced statistical techniques and utilizes design of experiments. Is able to prepare and present comprehensive design reviews.
- Independently reviews and analyzes new designs for DFMA/DFS and provides feedback to design teams.
- Has advanced understanding of consumable (disposable) medical devices and high-volume manufacturing processes. Works with manufacturing engineers to improve manufacturing metrics and meet or exceed goals. Knowledge of Kaizen & Six Sigma principles. Proficient with Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA).
- Has understanding and knowledge of plastics & elastomers used with consumable (disposable) medical devices. Understands material properties, and works with resin manufacturers and processors such as injection molding & extrusion suppliers. Able to design complex parts independently. Understands sterilization processes and their effects on consumable products.
- Able to design components for molding with minimal supervision. Knowledge of joining techniques including adhesives and ultrasonic welding.
- Has understanding and ability to develop and execute V & V plans independently. Develops test plans, specifications and qualification test protocols for complex system / subsystem testing. Can synthesize and develop complex test equipment designs. Demonstrates advanced understanding of test methods and analysis tools to solve technical problems.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree General Engineering, BSME, BS Biomedical or international equivalent from an accredited college or university
- 2 years in a regulated industry
- 6 years Product Development Experience
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
- BS ME, Biomedical, General Engineering or international equivalent – Lean product development experience. Greenbelt in Six Sigma and production start-up
- 2 years experience in design for high-volume precision, injection molding
- Lean and/or six sigma experience
