Software Project Manager

This position manages small or large projects or pieces of projects from beginning to end for professional services offerings and/or software products. Provides direction and acts as a coach to a project team, including the assignment of individual responsibilities, tasks, and technical functions. Assigns work to resources based on availability and expertise. Oversees work of staff across departments or in multiple locations. Identifies needs and allocates the appropriate resources to meet timely completion of specific project tasks. Manages master project plan and monitors progress to ensure meeting of deadlines. Works with services and/or technology teams regarding changes of significant consequences to the scope or schedule of the project. Defines financial and work effort and manages project budgets. Oversees vendors and financial controls. Designs and implements approaches to increase project effectiveness, vendor effectiveness, and financial margins. Participates in program presentations and post-project reviews and identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement. Functions as department escalation point for off-hour defects and assigns defects to on-call developer. May serve as a representative on the Production Control Board.

Job Requirements

Fully-qualified level handles moderately complex to complex problems and has latitude for independent judgment. Minimum three (3) years of software project management or related experience that includes providing direction and acting as a coach to a project team. Good knowledge of strategic project management techniques. Good organizational, time management, and project management skills. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills.
