Posted Position Title: Senior Combustion Engineer Heat Transfer Career Level: Experienced Function: Engineering/Technology Function Segment: Product Design and Development Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces:South Carolina City: Greenville Postal Code: 29615-4614 Relocation Expenses: Full Expenses Role Summary/Purpose:In this role, you will: Essential Responsibilities Design and implement unique heat transfer enhancement features to increase the durability of combustor components
Develop roadmap for computational advancements and use university research and
GE community such as GRC for execution
Co-author combustion heat transfer design practice to include prediction and validation methods as well as lessons learned from field experience and NPI development
Develop and design heat transfer enhancement devices to enhance combustion durability without adversely affecting combustion emissions and operability
Continuously improve 1-D tools for heat transfer calculations integrate these tools into other combustor flow modeling tools such as flow master
Run sub-scale and large scale combustion testing to validate heat transfer models
Work with larger community and research universities to sell requirements to predict and enhance combustion heat transfer
Work with core combustion modeling leadership team to execute towards a detailed roadmap
Present combustion heat transfer research and validation efforts at GE combustion symposiums
Run both sub-scale and large-scale combustion testing for ultra-low NOx designs including EClass, F-Class and premixed syngas systems Qualifications/Requirements: Master’s Degree in Engineering or Science
A minimum of 8 years industrial applications of gas turbine engineering experience Additional Eligibility QualificationsGE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. Desired Characteristics Laboratory and field testing experience of combustion systems in large industrial gas
turbines
Knowledge of IGCC, syngas and liquid fuel combustion systems and operability
PhD in Mechanical Engineering with thesis on combustion heat transfer
Experience with Fluent CFD
Familiarity with Gas Turbine Combustion Systems
Strong computer skills using thermoacoustics tools and CFD
Demonstrated strong technical skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
