Job Title: Refrigeration R&D Test Engineer

The Test Engineer will develop and implement new experimental techniques in
a dynamic laboratory environment. They will design, set up, and operate experimental equipment for performance testing of advanced refrigeration devices and systems. They will perform data reduction and analysis and report results to senior technical staff. The Test Engineer is also responsible for helping to plan, maintain, and upgrade the test facilities.
Responsibilities
• Designs, sets up, and operates experimental equipment for advanced refrigeration devices and systems.
• Sets up, programs, and operates National Instruments LabView data acquisition systems.
• Generates test procedures. Helps plan and oversee test operations.
• Performs data reduction and analysis. Reports test results and makes recommendations based on the data.
• Selects and specifies components for purchase to build and upgrade the test equipment.
• Maintains and upgrades test facilities.
• Trains and mentors new employees and technicians.
Requirements
• Minimum Education required: BS degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering; Master’s degree desirable.
• Minimum Experience required: 5 years experience in an R&D environment. Must have experience with pressurized fluid systems. Design experience in refrigeration systems highly desirable. EPA certification for refrigerant handling also desirable.
• Skills Required: Ability to configure and program NI LabView data acquisition hardware and software. Ability to do advanced data manipulation with Excel. Good communication and presentation skills to report test results.
• Desirable: Hands-on ability - soldering and brazing of copper plumbing. Leak testing of pressurized systems. General mechanical aptitude. Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software.
