Principal Geotechnical Engineer in Leidschendam-Civil Engineering

As a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will plan and manage technical aspects of prominent and challenging offshore and near-shore projects. You will initiate and guide the development and improvement of state-of-the-art technologies and calculation models. You will work with colleagues from several Fugro operating companies worldwide.

On a daily basis, you will oversee geotechnical investigations for offshore facilities and reporting on data acquisition and engineering results. Many projects involve site characterisation and engineering for the placement of foundations and other structures in or on the shallow subsurface.

An important part of this position is the supervision, co-ordination and review of work of geotechnical teams. You will guide the development and training of geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists by assessing technical aspects of projects, assigning team members to appropriate projects, and guiding engineers through presentation or publication processes as appropriate.

Using your client contacts and market knowledge, you will identify project opportunities and prepare proposals. You will identify innovations for market and business development.

position requirements

• MSc or PhD in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering

• A minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the offshore industry or comparable, with at least 2 years in a comparable position

• Good communication skills in both oral and written English

• Coaching and leadership skills

• Excellent in teamwork

• Interest and ability to think in commercial and risk-management/ liability terms

• Knowledge about negotiating and pricing service products
