Basic Job Functions:

Manage plant performance analysis and testing. Support plant staff in monitoring and improving unit efficiencies. Review plant data and perform trend analyses to detect present and potential problems.

Experience:

* 3+ year’s PV System Design or PV plant analysis

Education:

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent experience

Required Skills:

* Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and direct the safe operation and maintenance activities of multiple complex projects.

* Knowledge of power plant performance monitoring software; NI DIAdem, PI

* Detailed knowledge of PV power systems

* Detailed knowledge of power electronics and controls

* Ability to oversee multiple complex projects

* Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written

* Ability to analyze processes and implement improvements

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

* Analyze plant performance data, identify improvement opportunities and, in coordination with Field Personnel, recommend corrective actions, and processes improvements.

* Research, identify, and justify performance improvements for all power plants.

* Perform analysis and maintenance of plant statistical data and analysis of opportunities for technical and operational improvements.

* Utilizing industry resources, identify new and innovative techniques and best practices. Serve as champion for new techniques as appropriate.

* Perform inspections and condition assessments of major PV power plant components to identify potential availability losses and recommend appropriate corrective action.

* Investigates and evaluates new ideas, methods, technologies, and materials related to plant operation and recommends improvements.

* Produce internal and external reports and presentations.

Physical Requirements:

* Will sit and stand for long periods of time during the day.

* Will walk, climb stairs and on equipment.

* May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist

* May lift up to 50 lbs.

* Required to use hands to finger, lift, handle, carry or feel objects.

* May stoop, kneel, bend, talk and hear.

* Specific vision abilities are required.

* All associates working at a First Solar manufacturing or R&D facility may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair)
