6-PWT Engine Calibration and Development Engineer - Advanced Powertrain-R-ENG0008535This position is open for 6th or 7th level engineers as a lateral move only (non-promotion).Responsible for the calibration and development of new engine technologies ranging from "bolt-on" features to completely new engines, typically 3-5 years ahead of production implementation.* Participate in model based engine algorithm development* Develop dynamometer based calibration methods and procedures* Work closely with production development groups to enable technologies to be introduced into the market faster* Performs the design analysis* Assists in developing engineering designs* Assists in implementing engineering changes* Initiates documents to provide engineering authority and to maintain math data* Participates in solution of engineering related product problems (Root Cause)* Provides technical direction to support personnel* Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods improvement, product improvements, and to support build programs* Executes product plans with supervisor guidance* Releases simple parts for production* Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations* Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering such as manufacturing* Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products* Regular contact with others outside the work group* Travels as requiredQualificationsBasic Required* Strong knowledge of internal combustion engine principles* Two years engine calibration experience* Working knowledge of exhaust aftertreatment technologies and strategies* BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent trainingBasic Preferred* Working knowledge of Simulink/dSPACE environment* High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult* Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design* Good oral and written communications skills* High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others* Understanding of design and manufacturing processes* Ability to work independently and with others* Knowledge of computer engineering softwarePrimary LocationUS-MI-MilfordPosting Date:Feb 23, 2010 Apr 24, 2010
