Our client has an immediate opening for an Offshore Production Engineer – Topside Equipment and Facilities. This client-facing role will be the primary point of contact and company representative to the client throughout the life of a project. This will require an individual who is very comfortable and effective in communicating with both internal and external teams. The Offshore Production Engineer will have accountability for leading project teams and managing all disciplines within a project, including having overall responsibility for project schedule and cost. The Offshore Production Engineer will report directly to the Director of Offshore Project Management.

The successful candidate will have a strong engineering background, with 5-15 years recent and relevant engineering experience, preferably as a mechanical engineer OR in one of the following disciplines: structural engineering, petroleum engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering or process engineering. In depth understanding and working knowledge of P&IDs and ability to effectively communicate with and direct the CAD team is essential. Offshore production engineering experience is required and experience with projects in the GOM would be highly beneficial. Additionally, the candidate will also exhibit strong project management skills and a successful track record managing projects (including project teams) for offshore production facilities and pipeline projects.

The Offshore Production Engineer will be responsible for the hands on engineering and project management of brownfield and greenfield projects for offshore production facilities and pipeline projects from concept through completion, including: engineering, design, procurement, fabrication, installation and startup. This role is all-inclusive within a project: working on and overseeing both the engineering and construction phases.

Duties and responsibilities of the Offshore Production Engineer include, but are not limited to:
• Defining requirements for projects for offshore production facilities and pipeline projects.
• Overseeing design and technical supervision of the design, engineering, construction and implementation activities associated with the entire project. This will include coordination, hands on management, oversight and communication with the client, the construction team, third party vendors, internal company design and drafting teams, and the company’s internal management and executive team.
• Scheduling and reporting (both internal and external) of all activities associated with the project to bring it to successful completion on time and on budget.
• Working closely with the client to discover new opportunities to add value through implementation of additional technology and systems to enhance operational effectiveness of the project and to ensure excellent safety and operational standards.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• 5-15 years experience as an engineer working directly on offshore oil and gas production projects
• Upstream experience required
• Midstream experience a plus
• Experience with offshore marine construction - familiar with fabrication and installation of equipment, platform and pipelines
• Experience with project controls and scheduling
• Project management experience with a “hands on” background
• Client management experience
• Preparation of RFQs
• Project organization and management:
o Understand the preparation of cost reporting and resources necessary for tracking project status
• Experience managing relationships with customers and third party vendors

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Knowledge and sound understanding of the production process from drawings and specifications through completed construction
• Familiar with codes:
o ASME B31.3
o ASME B31.8
o API 14C
o API 14E
• Familiarity with platform abandonments, pipeline abandonment, platform removals a plus
• Familiarity with vendors/suppliers normally used in fabrication of oil and gas equipment and fabrication along the Gulf Coast
• Equipment sizing of:
o Compressors
o Pumps
o Process separation equipment
o Gas dehydration and treating equipment
o Oil treating equipment
• Knowledge of emissions requirements
o Environmental – US Emission/Air quality
• BOEMRA (formerly MMS), TCEQ (formerly TNRCC), local, state and US governing bodies – research guidelines
• Ability to put together schedules – understand the scheduling process for a project
• Strong Excel and Word software skills

EDUCATION:
• 4-year college degree required in Engineering, preferably mechanical: structural, electrical, petroleum, chemical or process engineering also relevant


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
• PE certification a plus, but not required
• Affiliation with ASME and API a plus
