The development of the CST-100 spacecraft is taking place in a fixed price environment where new approaches for satisfying NASA Human Rating Requirements and for NASA insight and oversight are being implemented. Key experience and skills required to be successful in this environment include: design and development of spaceflight and human space flight structural and mechanical systems using computer aided design (CAD) tools. The Houston Design Center supports various design needs across the Enterprise, but primarily supporting Boeing Commercial Aircraft product lines, including 787. Enterprise support work involves developing design models using CATIA and/or NX6 in a model-based definition (MBD) environment and releasing data sets in TeamCenter or Enovia/DCAC product data manager (PDM). Creates master models (MMs), relational layout models (RLMs), source control drawings (SCDs), component assembly requirements models (CARMs) to create and release assembly model MBDs. The successful candidate will have interpersonal skills to navigate new environments; leadership skills required to integrate with a diverse team; ability to find a way in a difficult environment; willingness to flag issues and ask for help; and the dedication required to succeed in a schedule driven development environment. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and suppliers. Supports the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design. Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation and high-level requirements to downstream groups. Performs detail design development and modification of mechanical and fluid system installations. Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Performs spatial integration at system or component level and modification of mechanical systems. Assists in preparing technical documents for mechanical components and systems. Assists in supporting proposal preparation and new business development efforts. Contributes to supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals.
