Responsibilities
The Winnipeg office is a well-established and well run team of professionals focused on the buildings practice, water, infrastructure and transportation engineering and environmental services. Currently we have an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer – Team Leader to work closely with our Architectural clients and multi-disciplinary professionals in our Buildings consulting engineering practice. This opportunity will be of interest to a senior Mechanical Engineer who is well respected in their field not only for their technical knowledge and design competence as it relates to HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems and sustainable design, but also who is able to use his/her market sense and interpersonal skills in your collaboration with architectural and buildings clients. This position will also mentor and develop a fine team of mechanical engineers and technologists. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of interesting architectural projects such as educational, institutional and commercial buildings and the delivery of services to our clients. Key responsibilities will include:Provide mechanical design expertise and management of projects either as part of a project team or independently and coordinate with other disciplines in achieving the design solutionsManage the project budget, schedule and resourcesMulti-disciplinary coordination and client/project design team consultationDevelop and guide team staff in broadening and strengthening their technical skills and project management capabilitiesQualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 15+ years of post-graduation experience in a mechanical design and project management of buildings related projects; those with a Mechanical Technology Diploma and extensive experience with mechanical systems design of architectural building projects may also be consideredExperience with architectural projects such as educational, healthcare and commercial facilities; consulting engineering experience and work with architects, contractors and end clientsHave a keen interest in working with multi-disciplinary design professionals including engineering disciplines and architects and interior designersEffective leadership ability, interpersonal communication and team skills are essentialProven ability to deliver a wide variety of project scopes on time and budgetAbility to manage multiple priorities is a mustWorking knowledge of computer programs and web-based applications such as AutoCAD, Revit (asset), proficiency in MS Word and ExcelSustainable design knowledge and LEED ® project experience are definite assetsP.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration with APEGM, within one year
