Position Description

Under the leadership of senior engineers you will use state-of-the-art engineering tools and methods to either design/development products to be used by physicians on patients, or further develop the manufacturing methods used to produce those medical technology products. As a Mechanical Engineer Product Design/Development Summer Associate, you will have the opportunity to perform evaluations on mechanical concepts for future technology of implantable devices, and to develop and improve manufacturing methods, systems and processes to produce high quality product at optimal cost.

Position Responsibilities

ME: Product design/development positions offer opportunity to perform evaluations on mechanical concepts for future technology of implantable devices, and to develop and improve manufacturing methods, systems and processes to produce high quality product at optimal cost. Responsibilities include documenting requirements of design concepts, evaluating mechanical aspects of prototype concepts, performing design tests to evaluate and verify current designs to specified results, using data obtained from technician support to verify the functionality of product design and draw conclusions for evaluation, designing product components, circuitry or hardware from detailed concept descriptions, troubleshooting and problem solving your assigned portion of the design project, and developing test methodology and specifications.

ME: Manufacturing design/development positions offer opportunity to develop, implement and improve manufacturing methods, systems and processes to produce a high quality product which meets design specifications at optimal cost. You will determine requirements of manufacturing operations to specify equipment, fixturing, and process parameters; develop plans to evaluate process repeatability and stability through equipment qualification and process validation; continuously improve manufacturing methods, optimize product performance and reduce manufacturing costs; assist with detailed cost analyses of particular manufacturing changes; provide engineering support to manufacturing operation on a routine basis; address product related issues arising on the production floor; recommend appropriate staffing levels to support manufacturing requirements; define and generate all required documentation in support of manufacturing products and processes, including engineering protocols, reports, manufacturing instructions and procedures; and ensure compliance with GMPs and internal protocol.

Basic Qualifications

2 years coursework toward a Mechanical Engineering BS/MS Degree
GPA of 3.0 or above.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

Prior work on projects in a team environment.
Relevant academic projects and / or internship experience helpful.

Physical Job Requirements

Sit, stand or walk for eight hours per day.
