Mechanical Engineer (Power Drives, Inc.)
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Company: Power Drives, Inc.
Location: Falconer, NY
Coordinate all prototype activities and delivery of appropriate manufacturing related data and/or products to internal and external customers within pre-defined expectations for delivery.
Minimum Requirements:
•Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology; preference given to candidates with 4 year degree
•Familiarity with CNC metal forming and machining equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Lead the prototype development team in day to day activities
•Develop and track project timelines for all prototype products and processes
•Deliver prototype products to internal and external customers on time, every time
•Deliver detailed manufacturing data to Manufacturing Engineer to promote flawless launch in a production environment
•Create a strong communication link with sales and design team to ensure prototype project timelines and expectations are clear
•Participate in all design review activities/meetings; communicate product status and identify obstacles to meeting
pre-defined timelines
•Document product/process changes related to prototype through the ECN system
•Record all costs associated with each project to ensure prototype related costs are properly applied for future
quoting purposes
•Work closely with Design Engineering and provide input at early stages of product development to ensure product requirements can be met using robust/proven manufacturing methods
•Seek cost-effective, robust, and repeatable manufacturing solutions when developing prototype products; utilize
equipment which proves most economical, capable, and take best advantage of excess capacity
•Update New Product Development database at predefined intervals
•Update Adonix with pertinent manufacturing data obtained during prototype manufacturing. Hands on manufacturing of prototype parts where necessary
•Interact with Sourcing Specialist to ensure timely procurement and delivery of prototype components
•Prepare and distribute bi-weekly status reports for prototype activities and PPAP readiness; verbally present to
management team
