Due to growth, Braun Intertec, a leader in the engineering and environmental consulting field, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in our Bloomington, MN location. Responsibilities will include:

• Serve as consulting mechanical engineer on all related aspects of building sciences projects and reviews.
• Be able to size and select HVAC equipment, in particular heat pumps, heat exchangers and geothermal equipment.
• Provide professional consultations on a wide range of unforeseen problems making client recommendations for resolutions.
• Consult with contractors, architects and engineers, collectively resolving problems to exchange information and expedite work.
• Provide technical oversight in areas of expertise using regulatory knowledge
• Understand and interpret design documents including drawings and calculation summaries
• Create solutions for both routine and complex projects serving as point of contact.
• Utilize your marketing and business development skills to sell and perform professional services through client relationships and experience.
• Develop project cost estimates and write proposals, and perform the work in compliance with those estimates. Candidate will be responsible for profit/loss and managing staff and expenses for projects.
• Writing of reports and documentation
• Provide consulting on Property Condition Assessments (PCA) for buildings owners considering purchasing a property.
• Provide Expert Witness services related to projects were we are hired for these services related to litigation.

Qualifications:

• Degreed Engineer with emphasis in Mechanical HVAC systems
• Professional registration as an engineer is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the mechanical engineering profession
• Interest or experience dealing with issues related to PCA’s, HVAC, isothermic, insulation, calculating dew points, heat transfer, and heat exchange is a plus.
• Site inspections and working with the contractors on site will require the ability to work on scaffolds, ladders, bucket lifts, and handling tools, plans and specifications up to 40 pounds.
• Very wide ranging experience is desired, as the candidate will be dealing with a variety of diverse issues and investigations.
• Excellent written and verbal skills are required to describe observations, analysis, testing, and conclusions. Candidate should be confident and knowledgeable with the ability to support conclusions developed.
• Prior successful experience in project management is desired. Employee must have solid project management history and experience working through teams within scope.
