The Design of drilling and other Heavy Equipment. This position will require and understanding of metal fabrication, machining and assembly drawings as well as a thorough understanding of hydraulics. A knowledge of machining fits and tolerances is required. It is preferred that the applicant possess the ability to reverse engineer old equipment that we repair so that we can later modify or modernize it. This will require an understanding of measuring instruments such as calipers, indicators, gages and a tape measure so that hand sketches can later be input into Autodesk Inventor. Must be good with creating BOM's, and project flow diagrams for planning and organization. In addition to this there will be need to have an understanding of the different types of steel grades as well as standard shapes and sizes.

Software Skill Requirements:

Autodesk Inventor is used for all 3D designs, FEA and drawings. However, we do occasionally use AutoCAD for the programming of our CNC plate burning table and to work on hydraulic and electrical schematics.

Preferred Skills:

Ability to perform hydraulic and power calculations in order to select proper hydraulic and mechanical components (pumps, motors, cylinders, gears, bearings, chain drives, etc..)
Understanding of stress analysis and use it to evaluate strength of design and the selection of proper types/grades of materials.
Assists in the design of hydraulic and electrical circuit schematics.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
2 to 3 years experience in the design of Heavy Equipment.
