Posted Position Title: Lead Hardware / Panel Design Engineer Career Level: Experienced Function: Engineering/Technology Function Segment: Product Design and Development Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces:North Carolina City: Wilmington Postal Code: 28402-2819 Relocation Expenses: Full Expenses Role Summary/Purpose:The role will be responsible for the mechanical and electrical design and support of electronic panels / chassis for nuclear instrumentation and control (I&C) equipment. You will utilize system and component specifications to design component layouts; perform mounting and bracket design; generate system schematics and cable drawings. Essential Responsibilities Apply mechanical and electrical engineering principles and expertise to design, analyze, and qualify I&C panels, cabinets, and chassis
Design and qualify brackets and mounting hardware used in panels, cabinets, and chassis
Perform worst case and RMS tolerance analysis
Perform natural and forced convection thermal analysis
Generate system schematics and wiring diagrams
Generate assembly drawings and parts lists
Develop, review and verify design, qualification, and quality documents
Interface with all engineering disciplines to ensure product, quality, and schedule adherence Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a physical science discipline
Minimum of 3 years experience designing instrumentation panels using chassis and DIN rail mounted components
Minimum of 1 year of experience using mechanical CAD tools to generate electronic and mechanical assemblies Additional Eligibility QualificationsGE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. Desired Characteristics Experience with BWR I&C panel design
Experience using AutoCAD Inventor
Experience performing thermal simulation
Experience in design for manufacturability
Experience in design for reliability
Experience with GE documentation system, practices and requirements
Demonstrated experience in driving product and process improvements
Growth capabilities for more responsible positions
Six Sigma Green Belt certification required for internal applicants; outside hires must complete training in first year
Quick learner, able to sort through information and make timely and sound decisions
