Responsibilities
Stantec in Calgary in currently seeking a Lead GHG Verifier/Sustainability Analyst. Reporting to the Sustainable Solutions Team Lead within Stantec’s Building Engineering group, the purpose of this position is to provide direction and leadership in the execution of sustainability projects. The qualified candidate will have a background in carbon management and greenhouse gas validation and verification. Exceptional communication skills, the ability to provide excellent client service and a commitment to sustainable design are essential for this position. The successful candidate will join our ANSI accredited GHG team in an intermediate to senior (experience dependent) role with the opportunity to be mentored by world leading experts in the ISO14064 series of standards, former national UNFCCC delegates and carbon engineers of significant experience. We operate as a seamless, co-operative virtual team as well as providing an enthusiastic and passionate ‘home’ team in the Calgary office. Within this role there is also considerable opportunity for cross training in alternative energy design, energy modeling, energy efficiency consulting and LEED consulting. This position is located in Calgary and the successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Support projects through services including carbon advisory services, GHG validation and verification and GHG quantification services.Project management of sustainability projects, primarily in GHG and Carbon Management.Supervise and mentor junior technologists, scientists and engineers in project execution and ongoing development in GHG auditing and accounting.Business development and client management in order to maintain and grow Stantec’s client base in western Canada.Co-ordinate and liaise with our virtual team across North America.Represent Stantec on selected GHG panels and advisory boards.QualificationsBachelors degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Engineering, Natural Sciences or Accountancy.Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a government, consulting or industry setting.Track record in working with clients in an industrial setting, preferably oil and gas.EP(GHG) (or eligibility) or P.Eng. (or eligibility for APEGGA membership) is strongly preferred. Completion of a training course in ISO14064-3 is strongly preferred.Experience in GHG auditing and quantification. Strong professional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate in a timely manner appropriate with clients and team members.Exceptional multi-tasking skills and the ability to work in an environment with a high volume and high variety of projects.Assets: Any of the following would be looked upon favourably by the hiring committee:Experience in compliance reporting of air emissions including: NPRI and CAPP.Experience or familiarity with the following simulation software: IES , eQUEST, TRNSYS, EE4, DOE-2, and/or EnergyPlus; HAP, TRACE, and/or Hot2000 Experience with thermal comfort analysis, CFD (for natural ventilation and displacement ventilation), daylight simulation, life-cycle cost analysis, and/or existing building auditing Understanding of LEED building rating systems; LEED AP with specialization preferred Qualified candidates who are highly motivated and eager to commit to Stantec’s strategic initiative to become a Top 10 global design firm should submit their resume and cover letter.
