POSITION SUMMARY:
The International Purchasing Engineer competitively bids, negotiates, prepares, executes and expedites purchase orders and contracts for equipment materials, components and services required by the company consistent with quality delivery and service requirements. This position communicates manufacturing information, design requirements and commercial terms and conditions within the company to the relevant suppliers. This position must have an up to date knowledge of local country business practices, customers, regulations, available resources and current cost levels for commodities purchased to ensure effective results.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop, recommend and implement cost reduction projects and thoroughly report and document all transactions. Communicate and analyze the design requirements for use in obtaining supplier quotations to support cost saving alternatives. Execute to achieve cost savings goals as established.
2. Maintain project management controls to negotiate, prepare, and execute purchase orders/contracts in accordance with established guidelines for ethics, cost management, contracting terms and conditions, changes and approval. Thoroughly document all transactions
3. Expedite purchase orders/contract to ensure delivery requirements are met. Follow all quality problems to resolution, assuring that suppliers reimburse the company for problems shown to be caused by them. Follow all accounts payable discrepancies to resolution.
4. Evaluate current and prospective suppliers, assessing administrative, financial, and managerial, product development, capacity, manufacturing, quality, delivery and service capabilities/performance. Coordinate closely with New Product Development, Contract Engineering and Quality Assurance departments in evaluation of new suppliers.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelors in Engineering
- 5 years purchasing and or Engineering or experience
- Casting and foundry, machining, purchasing, manufacturing processes, supplier interface and evaluation, import/export experience.
- Excel and ERP
- Ability to travel internationally
Preferred:
- Ability to prioritize and recognize urgent issues/demands, strong attention to detail and organizational skills and strong communication skills.
- QA and or new product development Exposure
- Mechanical and Analytical aptitude
- Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings
