Job Title: Injection Molding Validation Engineer

Provide leadership and direction in the area of Plant Injection Molding Technology.
Plan, develop, and perform technical assignments which could include experimental planning, set-up, design and execution, obtaining and preparing samples, functional testing, evaluation of product quality, analysis of results and generation of testing protocols and final technical reports.
Also provide technical support to molding operations and support trouble-shooting with existing molds or continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities:
1. Participate in coordinated investigations and assignments related to polymer processing.
2. Develop experimental protocols and procedures including planning, set-up, and conducting Engineering Studies.
3. Must have knowledge of "Scientific Molding" / Decoupled Molding process, training in design of experiments and statistics and an in-depth understanding of mold flow, design, plasticizing and theory.
4. Coordinate the development of new processes by interfacing with personnel from Operations / Molding Technology, R&D, quality, manufacturing assembly and packaging. Conduct testing and analyze results to support new mold / molding technology projects as well as support of new product development. Maintain records in a Laboratory Notebook.
5. Coordinate and carry out qualification and validation activities for new products, processes, changes and mold transfers as required. Understanding of IQ, OQ and PQ mold validation activities preferred.
6. Participate in molding pilot production and scale-up programs.
7. Coordinate and communicate assigned projects and their status with the appropriate personnel and departments.
8. Specify equipment, tooling and fixtures for new processes, or existing process changes. Prepare capital appropriation requests.
9. Install new equipment, tooling and fixtures to support new product development. Responsible for documentation and training.
10. Manage and coach technicians as required to complete assigned projects.
11. In own field of polymer processing, maintain up-to-date familiarity with developments through attendance at professional meetings, literature and consultations.
12. Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.
13. Comply with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations policies and procedures.
14. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Minimum education required to perform duties.
B.S. Degree in mechanical, manufacturing or electrical engineering or a related science field preferred and training in design of experiments and statistics. Plastics degree desirable.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum years required, both inside and outside company, to perform duties.
Six (6) years of experience in various engineering fields relating to manufacturing, quality control, equipment design and process development.
At least three (3) years working in an injection molding environment, design, build, qualification, and validation of molds.
