The Air Conditioning Systems and Services business of Ingersoll Rand provides heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems that enhance the quality and comfort of the air in homes and buildings around the world. Its offerings, under the Trane and American Standard Heating & Air Conditioning brands, include energy efficient systems, service and parts support and advanced building controls.

The successful candidate will work with the Trane Design Engineering Team to develop new HVAC residential indoor/outdoor/IHE products including condensing units, air handlers, gas furnaces, and cooling coils. Other design work will include, but is not limited to, the design and documentation of parts and assemblies of new, as well as, existing residential air-conditioning and heating units. Specific responsibilities will include the development of 3D CAD models, and subsequent analysis and documentation of those designs. The analysis of these designs will include tolerance, structural and/or thermal investigations primarily using ProEngineer solid modeling software and its associated modules.

Job Responsibilities:
* Create critical solid model geometry and engineering drawings using PRO|E
* Receive subsystem design requirements from Systems Engineers, identifying design concepts, and developing these designs into optimal solutions
* Design for manufacturing, assembly, and ergonomics (DFMAE)
* Perform engineering analysis and design using analytical tools such as PRO|E, and other analysis software (CeTol for tolerances; PRO|E Mechanica for FEA, etc.)
* Document results from engineering analyses
* Agency compliance and listings (ARI, UL, CSA, GAMA, etc.)
* Analyze cost reductions opportunities and provide resolution of quality issues on key components
* Specify component and material requirements/specification
* Manage Engineering data using software such as Windchill
* Create and maintain bills of material using CINCOM software
* Engineering data/unit attribute creation
* Drive continuous improvement in reducing Engineering product development cycle time

Bachelors Degree Mechanical Engineering required
Education, Experience & Skills:
Minimum BS in Engineering required (BSME and MSME preferred) Five or more years experience in Design Engineering Previous experience with HVAC, refrigeration systems, or components (preferred) Aptitude for mechanical and/or electrical application equipment design required Good verbal and written communication skills Work effectively in a team oriented environment Must have good conflict management skills and demonstrate versatility in personal interaction

Key Competencies:
1. 2-5 years Pro|Engineer experience required 2. FEA modeling experience (preferred) 3. Problem assessment and problem solving skills 4. Energy and desire to drive continuous improvement projects 5. Project planning and organizational skills 6. Results oriented individual with an emphasis placed on achieving overall team performance 7. Demonstrated ability to complete assignments on time 8. Experience with PC based Windows programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.) 9. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt/Lean Expert
