AUTOMATION ENGINEER - MECHANICAL

Meso Scale Diagnostics, LLC. (MSD) is a rapidly growing company specializing in the field of multiplexed biological measurements, providing cost effective and valuable information for drug discovery, high throughput screening and proteomics research to scientists in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, government and academic research organizations. Located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, MSD develops, manufactures and markets cutting edge instruments and assay kits based on its proprietary electrochemiluminescence detection technology.

Position Summary:

As a Mechanical Engineer responsible for Automation, you will design, source, build and test automated assembly equipment for high-volume production of single-use devices. You will support new product development through the transition from prototypes into manufacturing. Areas of concentration include robotics, controls, fluid handling equipment, machine vision, pick-and-place, part handling, sorting and conveying, and packaging. Significant interaction with outside vendors is expected.

Requirements:

The position requires a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of work experience. Candidates should be proficient in CAD (preferably SolidWorks), and have experience with design for manufacturing, assembly and automation. Knowledge of robotic and electromechanical systems is required, and ability to program in Visual Basic and C# is desired. Experience in the manufacture of FDA regulated devices and interest in the health care field is a plus.
